DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS SECTION 107 - January 2020

We used the following book as her guide, Sacred Truths of the Doctrine and CovenantsVolume 2, by Leaun G. Otten and C. Max Caldwell. Section 107 emphasizes the church government and priesthood offices--the governing principles of the priesthood and councils.

The following comments will seem random, but comments did all connect to this section--I just can't recreate it well enough to prove it:

--We talked about the differences between the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthood including how the transfer of keys takes place, such as presiding keys.

--Presiding keys are temporary and do not follow the individual called to preside once they are released.

--President versus bishop as a priesthood office. Is president a priesthood office? --When talking about the descendants of Aaron, it is not a DNA descendency line.

--Patriarchal blessings were mentioned as an ordinance and a covenant.

--The point was made about the following connections: Exodus 40:12 "And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water." and how this scripture connects beautifully with Moroni 10:31: "And awake, and arise from the dust, O Jerusalem; yea, and put on thy beautiful garments, O daughter of bZion; and strengthen thy stakes and enlarge thy borders forever, that thou mayest no more be confounded, that the covenants of the Eternal Father which he hath made unto thee, O house of Israel, may be fulfilled." which connects with President Nelson's exhortation to the women to learn about their priesthood power which then connects us back to the temple.

--President Ballard's comments were raised about how the church organization/hierarchy is a scaffolding that will disappear when Christ returns--the eternal priesthood is the familial priesthood.
