DOCTRINE and COVENANTS SECTION 84 - December 2019
Although Section 84 has been taught in the past as applying only to men, it applies to all.
Section 84:19 compare to 1 Nephi 10:19 compare to 1 Corinthians 2:9-14
We all receive these ordinances at baptism--we only understand the mysteries of God through personal revelation
These scriptures connect us all and are meant for each of us, women and men:
Section 84:35-40; 44,45; 60, 61; 88; 109-110.
We are invited to be participants in the Atonement of Christ by helping to bear each other's burdens. A reminder that Fiona Givens points out in The Christ Who Heals," that the collaboration between the Godhead is represented in our baptismal covenants.
Ben Spackman quote:
"Had a stake-wide missionary meeting this morning. I offered the opinion that improving the quality of our church services (teaching and speaking) would increase attendance. Even little changes could reshape how we approach these things communally, like replacing “speak” and “talk” with “preach the gospel” and “sermon,” avoiding assigning GC talks as THE TOPIC, and instead assigning to “preach on the principles found in these talks and scriptures.”
