MEANING OF THE WORD PRESIDE, MINISTERING ANGELS, AND THE HOLY GHOST - May 2020

We talked about the meaning of the word preside, How to Hear Him, ministering angels, and the Holy Ghost.

We continued our discussion on the word, "preside," expanding on the possibility that the father presides during family priesthood ordinances/blessings such as a baby's blessing or a healing blessing.

Comments without attribution:

In her family, it means to preside during family ordinances and that is it. They have an equal partnership. 


The word “preside” is viewed by the younger age as a generational thing


Wonders if the word was used to protect women and to warn the husband to not be a louse -


Turning off the news helps her to hear Him because the news is too much distraction


Seeking and actively asking for what we need - specifically asking has truly helped - end of every day going through gratitude - recognizes the ways she knows He heard him-- 


Directly asks for spiritual gifts


Instead of saying in prayer that she is thankful for her Savior—she is thankful to her Savior - it was a different experience - 


Who do we envision we are talking to when we pray? 


A friend asks for permission to bring the Savior 


There is an order, a protocol - like Eliza R. Snow who worked within the rules thereby giving her expanded power


She felt the Savior help her with a problem -


This is the problem with our interpretation of the Godhead - we delineate responsibilities


Are we making this more complicated than it is?


Felt a connection to the Savior when she gave thanks to the Savior -


We will hear however we best connect with Him


Knows so little about the Holy Ghost and feels the most from him


Hopes she can dwell in the hearts of her children - but knows she is not inside them

Elder Holland is adamant about the presence of angels - that we need to be aware - that we need to call upon them


Does everything apply to everyone? Or should we use our intelligence - the truth is the truth - we function differently we process differently 


If truth is the truth it should be universal


What is the right word to describe someone - orthodox, traditional -  - rule-oriented - letter of the law vs spirit of the law - cling to outdated information - orthodox - conventional - conventional thinking?
